I'm just a girl who likes to DIY anything and everything. More than that, I love teaching people - especially women - how to pick up power tools and create the home of their dreams. Stop waiting for someone else and starting Doing It Yourself. I'll show you how!
Today we are focusing on my guest bedroom wall! I am so excited for today’s project which I have partnered with Build and Batten and I am so ready for this project because it is perfect for everyone, especially beginners. There are so many reasons why I love this company. They have pre-made panels and moulding so that they do not require cutting. They have moulding in 15 or so sizes. You can buy them in pairs and put them together quickly and easily. They kind of clip together so you don’t even need tools. If you don’t have a nail gun that’s okay, you can just use glue and adhesive.
For this project, this is the design I had in mind. I will be using my nail gun so this project could not be easier. When you order, you will get two moldings of the same size and two of these corner connectors.
I use my self-leveling laser to project on my wall so I know that my moulding is in the right spot. Then I will make a part and come back with my nail gun. I think that was the easiest project I have ever done. This is an amazing beginner project.
After the struggle of picking the right color, I got to work. Before I painted the wall, I used caulk to fill the nail holes and fill the side seams of the moulding. I ended up using Sherwin Williams “Halcyon Green”.
Side note on wall textures. This moulding look and paint can totally work on a textured surface. However, if you want a smooth look there are two options. One, you can skim paint the wall, and two, you can buy a hardboard. need to go in between the moulding and the wall. Out of the two options, I would recommend hardboard, it is a lot easier. I went to town painting, and I am so pleased with how it all turned out.
