It’s time for us to say goodbye to the carpet in our guest bedroom. We decided to lay down LVP flooring in here with a cozy rug instead. For the flooring in here, we are using Hewn flooring in the color Riviera. Hewn Flooring is so freaking durable. It’s perfect for kids, pets, and everything in between. The pieces are all 9″ wide and I love how it looks in our space. It looks so luxurious!
We ripped up this carpet and completely removed anything on the floor until it was just smooth concrete on the ground. Then it was time for the underlayment.
Flooring Layout
The underlayment we used is called WhisperStep and I was blown away by this stuff! When you unroll it, it lays completely flat. It’s also so dense. I’m honestly bummed I didn’t put this upstairs because our kids are such loud walkers and this would have helped with keeping the sound down. Next house I guess 😂
The WhisperStep needed to be laid perpendicular to the flooring and our flooring was going to lay horizontal to the wall with the door on it. So, the underlayment went up and down (opposite of the flooring).
You literally just roll this stuff out and it lays flat! We used clear boxing tape for the seams.
Flooring Installation
You need spacers since in different weather, flooring can contract and expand. You want to give it space to do that! We used these .25″ spacers along the wall.
To cut our pieces, we use this tool! It’s literally so easy. You just make a mark, line it up, and chop!
We installed our flooring pieces using a block and mallet to make sure they were secure and in place.
T.J. made some customized cuts with our multi tool so the flooring would continue into the closet. While he was finishing up the final pieces, I started pre-painting the quarter rounds. It’s so hard to do this when they’re already installed!
Then, we put all our decor back in this room. You can see the bed frame, bedding, and night stands here! I couldn’t link everything since majority of it is from HomeSense (which I love).
I LOVE WHISPERSTEP! It’s so quiet in here now.
