I'm just a girl who likes to DIY anything and everything. More than that, I love teaching people - especially women - how to pick up power tools and create the home of their dreams. Stop waiting for someone else and starting Doing It Yourself. I'll show you how!
I’m finally sharing my personal nighttime skincare routine. I’ll teach the way I teach and give full details because good skincare is expensive and I want you to understand why it is. I’ll give you times when you can choose an inexpensive option. But, there are times when you have to spend the money and buy the medical grade stuff. Let’s get into my skincare routine!
Every morning I wash my face with either water or with facial cleaner. If I used tretinoin the night before, I use a cleanser. If not, just water! If I am using cleanser, I use this La Roche-Posay cleanser. This one is super affordable and it’s huge! Facial cleanser is something I don’t think you need to really splurge on.
Then, I use disposable towels because regular towels have gunk and build up that I don’t want on my face. You know me, I did my research and found the most affordable option for these. You get 100 towels for under $7!
The first thing I do after I wash my face is apply this serum that has Vitamin C, E, & F. These vitamins do so many great things for your skin. One of the most important things you can do for your skin is use a high-quality vitamin C serum every morning. I’ve heard that this one is tough on sensitive skin so if that’s you, you might have to build a tolerance to it. But, my skin isn’t super sensitive so I prefer this one from drmtlgy.
This serum brightens complexion, has antioxidants, protects against damaging free radicals, plumps and smooths, minimizes hyperpigmentation, and reduces fine lines.
If you have dry skin, you can go in with a moisturizer next. I don’t have dry skin so I usually skip this step in the mornings. It’s one less product for me to worry about! But this is my recommended moisturizer for the morning.
The MOST IMPORTANT step of morning skincare is sunscreen! It’s important to wear it every day, even if you don’t go outside in the dead of winter. I alternate drmtlgy and Elta MD everyday.
Make sure to use a broad spectrum sunscreen. That means it protects not just from rays outside, but also from your phone, TV, and computer as well. Make sure to apply all the way down your neck!
I also put it on the back of my hand and rub my hands together because I want to protect my hands everyday as well!
