Remember my primary bathroom that someone renovated years ago? Remember how I literally had mold AND a mushroom growing out of the shower grout because someone didn’t waterproof it properly? Well, I do. It’s time to renovate it! We hired out the demo part, but let’s rewind and see where we started.

I’m changing the entire layout of this bathroom and I can’t wait!

What’s damaged or not working in this bathroom? Glad you asked.

Just to name a few….

1. Two out of the three shower heads don’t work.
2. The tile is so poorly installed with chunks of grout missing.
3. There was a mushroom growing out of a tile crack, which means there will be moisture underneath we’ll have to deal with.
4. The shower tile is cracked and incorrectly sloped.
5. The shower in here is huge. We don’t shower in here at the same time. We’ll be shrinking the shower and making it shorter by about 2.5′ and adding a pony wall.

What’s going to stay the same?

1. The vanity area will remain where it is. It will just be mine and TJ will have his own on the opposite wall.
2. The bathtub will stay here, but I’ll make it parallel to one of the walls.

After doing the demo, we DEFINITELY found mold and damage in the shower. I’m so glad we hired out the demo because it is just not for me!
